Computer Glasses FAQ

Do computer glasses need a prescription?

No. Every frame in this collection can be bought as a non-prescription pair with blue light filtering, which is the cheaper path when screen protection is all you need. If you already wear glasses to look at a screen, choose single vision and add your prescription at checkout — the anti-reflective coating comes with either.

Which lens feature matters most at a desk?

They do different jobs, so which one matters depends on your desk. Anti-reflective coating cuts the glare a screen throws back at you, and is the feature that matters in a bright room. Blue light filtering is the one that matters when the screen is still on in the evening. Every lens here also carries a scratch-resistant surface, which is what decides whether the pair still looks right after a year of daily use.

Does the size of my monitor change what I need?

It changes the distance, and distance is the part a lens can do least about. A large monitor at arm’s length spreads the same text across a wider field of view, so what tires your eyes is moving them around rather than focusing close. A single-vision pair set to your usual screen distance does more for that than a stronger filter does.

How many hours a day can I wear them?

All day. The frames here are built for it: lightweight and durable, with adjustable nose pads for extended wear and a lifetime warranty behind them. If you take a pair off because it pinches, that is the fit, not the product — a frame that slips or presses has the wrong measurements for your face.

Should I pick a blue light filter or a clear lens for daytime?

For screens, blue light filtering — it is the treatment we recommend for computer use, and it is available on non-prescription, single-vision, reading and progressive lenses. A clear lens is the everyday choice for general wear. Outdoors, use a tinted or polarized lens instead, and a yellow lens for night driving.
