What is The Difference Between Nearsighted and Farsighted

Many people do not know that there is a difference between myopia and hyperopia. Especially if you don't need to wear glasses or you just wore glasses recently, you may not be familiar with the difference between farsightedness and nearsightedness. If you know someone who wears glasses, or if you wear glasses yourself, then this person is likely to have nearsightedness or farsightedness. Both of these conditions are affected by the way light is reflected to the eyes. These are called refractive disorders because they are classified according to how light bends or refracts in your eyes. To understand myopia and hyperopia, the first step is to look at the definition of myopia and hyperopia.the world in the eye

What does myopia mean?

Myopia means that objects close to you appear clearer than objects far away. This is also called a condition of myopia. Myopia is caused by incorrect refraction of light waves due to the shape of the eyes. The light is focused too far in front of the retina instead of directly focusing on the retina. When the light is focused in front of the retina, distant objects look blurry, but nearby objects are clearly visible. At the same time, myopia is more common than hyperopia.

What does farsightedness mean?

Farsightedness means that objects far away look clearer than objects close to you. Hyperopia, is usually caused by too short eyeballs. In this case, the light is reflected behind the retina instead of on the retina. This causes objects at close range to look blurry, and the farther you move them, the sharper they become. Therefore, reading is often a challenge for visionaries. The big difference between hyperopia and nearsightedness is that hyperopia is more common in later life. You may notice that your parents or you recently started squinting while reading or looking at the screen. This is a type of hyperopia called presbyopia, which is a specific type of hyperopia caused by age.

How to judge if I am farsighted or nearsighted?

To determine whether you are near-sighted or far-sighted, try to test which objects in your field of view are the most blurred.

First, move your gaze away from any screen or close your eyes for a few minutes to make sure your eyes are resting.

Then, start by trying to read a few pages in the book. Do these words look vague? Do you feel a headache? You may have farsightedness.

Now, try to see something from a distance of about 10 feet, such as a sign on the street or a poster on the wall. Are you unable to clearly see the words and shapes to read or distinguish what they are? You may have myopia.

If you have difficulty seeing near and far objects, you may have both nearsightedness and farsightedness. This situation is called gradual. In fact, each eye may have varying degrees of nearsightedness or farsightedness.

If you think you have myopia or farsightedness, please make an appointment with an optometrist for an eye exam to confirm the diagnosis and receive treatment. The optometrist is doing optometry

How to treat myopia and hyperopia?

The most common treatment for myopia and hyperopia is to wear prescription glasses or contact lenses. Myopia and hyperopia glasses resolve the difference in vision through corrective lenses, thereby solving your vision problems. If you are not sure how to interpret your prescription, there is a general rule for determining nearsightedness and farsightedness. If your doctor prescribes a minus (-) sign, it means you have myopia. If you have a plus sign (+), it symbolizes foresight.

If you find that glasses or contact lenses are not your best choice, there is also a laser eye surgery that can reshape the cornea to help repair your vision. This is usually the last step. We recommend that you need a face-to-face consultation with an ophthalmologist. It is also recommended that you wait until adulthood before performing surgery to ensure stable vision without drastic changes. This program is very helpful to most people, depending on their needs and pursuits.
